Weekend Houston ~ Joseph’s Nursery, Pearland, TX

Joseph’s Nursery in Pearland, TX is one of the decent nurseries I have ever been to so far in Houston. It is a gigantic nursery, filled with a huge range of basically everything that can be grown in soil. They have a wide variety of flower, fruit and decorative plants, and a good selection of both Asian and native vegetable plants. Nursery looks well-maintained, the people who work there are helpful and plants’ prices are also comparable to major chain garden centers. Plus, it is almost next to Sri Meenakshi Temple which makes it convenient to do bhagavan and vana darshan one after the other on the same day.

We went there last weekend for spring plant shopping. Brought home a desert rose, papaya and few vegetable plants. Here are some photos we have taken during our trip.

Dear Aruna: you know the nemalipincham aaku, decorative leaf plant? The red ones in the photo are also same type, not gongura.

Vidhya: I remember seeing a pamplet at Keemat grocery, advertizing neem plant seedlings for sale, last summer. Enquire at grocery shops or at the Meenakshi temple. They are hard to find so good luck.

Hello Kay: Houston has many good nurseries. The henna plant one is Caldwell nursery, specializes in one of a kind, exotic varieties.

Ranjan: Hope you had a nice Easter weekend, my friend. Say meow to Chloe and Max from Kittaya for me.:)
This year for the first time, I planted purple variety garlic.

    Veggie Belly: Yes, they are.

Sailajakka, I am so happy to see you here. I will contact Padmaja for your number. I had great time at your home and love to keep in touch with you again. How is amma doing?
Josephs nursery is good place for plant shopping.

  12. Phil says:

Does anyone know the hours of Joseph’s nursery? Particularly the weekend hours…their phone message does not indicate the hours.

  13. Ranjan Christadoss says:

Neem plants are available in bayview, tx, close to south padre island, their web site is riversendnursery.com they have most plants and trees suitable for zone 10a which is the rio grande valley, i live in mission, tx which is 75 miles from bayview and i buy most of my plants from there, they are open only on weekends from 10 am until 5 pm, prices are reasonable the owners are ed and kathy, the place looks like a tropical paradise, atleast 25 huge jamun trees

  14. Ranjan Christadoss says:

Great nursery, would be nice if they spoke english, you pretty much have to haul the tree or plant inside to ask a question

  15. Brenda Fernandes says:

Does the nursery have Karri Patta Plant? If they don’t – do you know where I can get one?
    Many thanks – Brenda
