The kharbuja looks wonderful ! Try this kharbuja payasam. ..Puree the kharbuja (or small pieces) with jaggery and coconut milk. Add cardamom powder and serve.

Kharbuja is cantaloupe or musk melon, homegrown is much sweeter than big box grocery chain variety.

Hi Liz: A friend gave me few seeds last year and they are all now big plants. I’ve planned to dry seeds from harvested fruits. It would be my pleasure to share, please mail me with your details.

you mean, musk melon? WOW! I gave up the idea of eating musk melon after eating the tasteless almost-bitter ones available here. Looks like there’s some hope.

Dear Indira,
You have a lovely blog.I browse by sometimes, it brightens my day. I’m overly fond of Indian Kharbuja by itself or juiced or with Indian Jaggery sprinkled with lemon juice. I haven’t seen Kharbuja in Indian markets and am delightfully surprised to see it growing in your garden.
